The Scriptures

We believe that the Holy Bible was written by men yet divinely inspired—a perfect treasure of heavenly instruction. We believe that God is its author, salvation is its end and truth without error is its matter. We believe that it reveals the principles that God will use to judge us; it is and forever will be the true center of Christian union; and it is the supreme standard by which all human conduct, creeds and opinions shall be tried.

The Trinity

We believe that the scriptures teach that there is one—and only one—living and true God. God the Father is the infinite, intelligent maker and supreme ruler of Heaven and Earth. He is inexpressibly glorious in Holiness and worthy of all possible honor, confidence and love. We also believe that Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit exist in equal essence and eternal communion with the Father. They abide in divine perfection and execute distinct yet harmonious offices in the great work of redemption.

Salvation

We believe the scriptures teach that the salvation of sinners is wholly of grace. It is offered through the mediation of the Son of God, who by the appointment of the Father, freely took upon our nature, yet without sin. Jesus Christ honored the divine law by His personal obedience. We believe that His death fully atoned for our sin and that He is now enthroned in Heaven, having been risen from the dead. He is in every way qualified to be a suitable, compassionate and all sufficient Savior.

We believe the scriptures teach that the blessings of salvation are freely offered to all by the Gospel. It is the immediate duty of everyone to accept them through cordial, penitent and obedient faith. We believe that nothing prevents the salvation of any sinner but his own determined depravity and voluntary rejection of God.

The Church

We believe the scriptures teach that a visible church in Christ is a congregation of baptized believers that associates by the covenant in the faith and fellowship of the Gospel; observes the ordinance of Christ; is governed by His laws; and exercises the gifts, rights and privileges invested in them by His Word. We believe that the only scriptural officers of the church are Pastors and Deacons, whose qualifications, claims and duties are defined in the epistles to Timothy and Titus.

The World to Come

We believe the scriptures teach that the end of the world is approaching. Christ will descend from Heaven at the last day to raise the dead from the grave for final judgment and that a solemn separation will take place. We believe that the wicked will be judged to endless punishment and the righteous to endless joy. This judgment will fix forever the final state of men in Heaven or Hell on principles or righteousness.
